On paper Blur is Project Gotham Racing blended with Mario Kart. But 12 months make all the difference in the wonderful world of game development, and Liverpool-based Bizarre Creations - responsible for the excellent Project Gotham Racing series - has put some roar back into its racer's whimpering exhaust. When It Was seen last year, Blur was a bit average. However, this doesn't extend to tracks, which are based in such diverse locales as California, Barcelona and Hackney.

So Blur is a step away from the trend for inaccessible racers that require you to hit the precise apex of every bend to stay in contention. Bizarre Creations are adamant that you won't be throwing shells at other cars and dropping bananas in front of them, although communications bloke Ben Ward defied PR advice by telling us that "it's like an adult Super Mario Kart".
